Age differences

The amount of previtamin D3 produced in the skin from 8 - 18 yr subjects can me more that twofold (x2) greater than from the 77 - 82 yr old subjects

D and BMI

Vitamin D can be stored in fat. A lot of fat leaves less soluble D to be used.

D supplement to blood levels

in a first 10000 UIs of D supplement
each 1000 UIs increase the blood levels by 4.8 ng/mL (12 nmol/L)

in 15000 to 20000 UI range
each 1000 UI increases by just 0.40 ng/mL
